Praised for her “dulcet tones” (Boston Globe), Molly Yuko McGuire has established herself as a concert soloist and ensemble artist, captivating audiences in the Northeast USA and beyond. With a passion for a wide array of musical genres, she finds delight in navigating the world of anything that grooves- from early music, oratorio to new music and even jazz jaunts that will make your toes tap! In particular, Molly is drawn to the beauty of respectful and ambitious musical collaboration, with highlights from this past year including her work with Boston based early music group, Eudaimonia, several premiers of new music on the New Music New Haven series, and fruitful collaborations with friend and keyboardist David Preston.
Molly has worked with world-renowned conductors both domestically and internationally, such as Hans-Christoph Rademann (JSB Ensemble), David Hill and Masaaki Suzuki (Yale Schola Cantorum), James Burton (Tanglewood Festival Chorus), and more. After successfully finishing her academic journey at Yale University in 2023, Molly has earned a Master of Music degree specializing in Early Music, Oratorio, and Chamber Ensemble.
This past year, McGuire has been unraveling the mysteries of baroque compositions through various recitals in the Northeast, with music by Elizabeth Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, Barbara Strozzi and Tarquinio Merula. McGuire is equally at home in the world of contemporary music, having premiered several new pieces on the New Music New Haven concert series.
McGuire’s artistic identity is deeply connected to expanding the reach and understanding of classical vocal chamber music. She is continually seeking ways to engage audiences in a broader conversation about this evolving genre. Her non-musical escapades include braving the chilly embrace of open waters and becoming the reigning champion of trivia nights with friends.
